About the Working Group

The LCG Working Group on Poverty Issues is a forum for donor dialogue and coordination on poverty issues.

It has been in existence since the early 1990s, initially chaired by Danida and since 1997 has been facilitated by UNDP. The primary objective of the Group is to promote dialogue on poverty issues both at the macro and micro levels and to deepen operational co-operation between development partners, in support of the Government and other stakeholders efforts to alleviate poverty in Bangladesh. Specifically, the LCG Sub-Group has been involved in reviewing poverty- related policy and strategic issues that emanate from national or international forums, providing input to major programming exercises, and exchanging information on operation approaches and best practices that have had a positive impact on alleviating poverty.
