Local Consultative Group Plenary Meeting, 17 September 2014

Bangladesh Government and its Development Partners met in a Local Consultative Group (LCG) Plenary meeting on September 17, 2014. The meeting was attended by Cabinet Secretary Mr. M Musharraf Hossain Bhuiyan as chief guest and was co-chaired by the LCG Plenary Co-Chairs- ERD Secretary Mr. Md. Mejbahuddin and UN Resident Coordinator in Bangladesh Mr. Neal Walker.
The meeting reviewed the key features of the current Joint Cooperation Strategy and proposed a way forward for formulating the upcoming JCS for the period of 2015 to 2020. At the same time, the meeting discussed and endorsed the Review of the LCG WGs that was conducted earlier this year and agreed to expand the current monitoring of the functioning of LCG working groups to capture the implementation of these recommendations. The meeting also reviewed and discussed the progress that have been made regarding the Aid Information Management System (AIMS), the 7th Five Year Plan, the streamlining of the project approval process and the draft Foreign Donations Act. The meeting also formally announced the name of Ms. Janina Jaruzelski, Mission Director of USAID in Bangladesh as the new LCG Plenary co-chair in the place of Mr. Neal Walker, the former UN Resident Coordinator in Bangladesh who has left the country as part of his new assignment as the UN Resident Coordinator in Ukraine.
